Weekly Photo Challenge: Endurance

WMspiritendurance

Endurance is the main ingredient in old age. My Grandfather horse has endured infirmity, climate change, and the weight of time and gravity. He has endured my dogged love, lofty ambitions, and infinite shortcomings. Not holding back and protecting himself, the Grandfather Horse has shown his endurance year after year by giving more than asked, more than he has to spare. So, his mushy old heart will endure forever, as well, part of a thing greater than his old knees can carry.

Don’t feel sad for the Grandfather Horse, he has had to endure my gratitude, too.

Anna Blake, Infinity Farm.

WordPress Photo Challenge is a weekly prompt to share a photo- I enjoy twisting these macro prompts to share our micro life here on the Colorado prairie. My photos are taken with my phone, on my farm. No psych, definitely not high tech.

  1. What a nice way to look at things, from both the angle of the camera andall that he has endured with his mushy old heart. That is very poetic. I love the way you have so much love and respect for your animals. If everybody could learn to love that way…

  2. I’ve been dusting the barn today (rare). A bit of something seems to have got stuck in my eye.
Endurance is the pearl from grit when it’s a friendship. (Is that Sumo with GH?)

Love, love, love your blogs about grandfather horse. We had a grandmother Thoroughbred who we loved for 20 years until she died at 30, two years ago. She was so wise and we still miss her.

  4. Age is indeed a proof of endurance and wisdom. This Summer, I saw my folks who are now in their 70’s. They endured so many through the years and has aged gracefully. I hope and pray I can at least reach half the endurance they’d been. Our elders do deserve respect, admiration and yes, gratitude for inspiring us in so many ways. All the best to you and your family.

Hi anna, totally enjoyed our phone conversation and do so want to meet you and see your place. I spoke with barb young and she cannot make October work for her. I had hoped to come over for a fall color trip but my partner does not think she has that kind of drive in her. So I must put my time on hold for now but do hope 2015 will allow me the time. thank you for allowing me to bring my dog; we will both try to be on our best behavior when we get to travel to see you. daisy
